Post-Christmas Meal Plan and What Comes Next!

Wow! What a wonderful Christmas celebration!

Henry gave his heart to Christ….whoohoo!!!!


We celebrated with family and friends.


The joy of Christ’s birth was brought to life over and over again in worship and song.


The food we ate was Wonderful!


But what now?


I will fully admit that I cheated in a BIG way during Christmas.  And I didnt’ regret it one bit!


I have been working really hard to take care of myself.  Meal planning, eating the right foods to fuel my body.  Getting up and giving all I have in my Body Beast workouts.  And it has paid off! I feel great!  I am stronger that I ever have been, and I have muscle definition that I can honestly say I never had!

I will share my Body Beast results this week.


But it’s about more than just my outward appearance.  I am doing this for ME!  And for my family!


I went to the eye doctor over the Christmas break and they do this amazing little test called an Opto-map.  It takes a picture of your eye and all the blood vessels and arteries that connect your eye to your heart.  They do it to check for many things, but heart health is one of them.


My family and I have a very strong history of high cholesterol, as does Matt’s.  And sure enough, you could see a tiny bit of cholesterol in some of the vessels in one eye. Yes, even given the way that I eat.  So, you see.  My health goes much deeper than the surface of my skin.  I am doing this to remain strong and healthy for my husband and my boys.  To be here as long as I can for them.


Before I got pregnant with Henry, I actually took medicine to treat my high cholesterol.  I was only 27.  But when I stopped taking it, I vowed to do everything I could to prevent needing it as long as possible.  And I have been able to maintain a reasonably healthy level with my meal planning, Shakeology and exercises.


And I must continue.  I cannot slack off now. That is why I created my meal plan for this week.  It’s my LAST week of Body Beast, and I have loved this program!





So, for January! I am committing to a workout plan, creating and following meal plans for myself and for Matt, and to drinking my Shakeology daily!  For myself, my family, for this body God gave me and to hopefully continue to inspire others to do the same.


I know starting something new can be scary.  Trust me.  I was there back in May 2014.  I didn’t even tell Matt that I was starting the 21 Day Fix.  I just knew it was going to be one more thing that I tried and didn’t stick with.  But I was wrong.  God was working in me and leading me down a path I could never imagine.


When my coach Melanie suggested I join her 30 day fitness and accountability group, I said yes, but really thought I was joining a group with a bunch of women who would be holding hands and singing Kumbaya and not actually getting anywhere….but, Boy!  Was I wrong.


I found a group of women who were just like me:

  • A little (sometimes a lot) unhappy with their bodies
  • tired of the vicious cycle of dieting
  • ready for REAL change
  • encouraging, uplifting, and loving
  • women who make mistakes just like me
But the difference was that when we did fall of the wagon or were tempted to quit, there was always someone there – my coach or one of my challengers – who was cheering me on.  Reminding me why I started in the first place.  And God used that group of women to change not only my body, but me!


And I am paying it forward as a coach!!! Why do I workout from home, you might ask?  Here are my reasons!

I don’t have to worry about a gym membership…or the fees associated with it.
I have my workout.
I have my weights
I have a workout calendar that tells me exactly what to do each day.
I have a very simple and effective meal planning guide to follow.
And i have Support!  And Accountability!


Two things that I have learned to be invaluable in sticking with this lifestyle choice I have made.


So, for January 2016, I have a brand new challenge group starting!


The entire focus is on taking your old habits and replacing them with healthier ones! It’s not about starving yourself, it’s about living the 80-20 rule. It’s about facing your temptations head on, its about finding a healthy alternative for your treats and making exercise a part of your lifestyle! It’s not a fad diet, a quick fix or a magic pill. It’s called dedication, commitment, faith in the process and trust in me as your coach!
