Changing From the Inside Out

Changing From the Inside Out

12 weeks left in the year.  I cannot believe that!!! 2015 is almost gone.  What if by the time 2016 arrives, you were 12 lbs lighter.  Or even 24 lbs lighter???
I know….doesn’t seem real!
I know that when I started in my first challenge group I had exactly 12 lbs to lose.  And I did it.  After two rounds of the 21 Day Fix, I lost the extra weight that was getting me down.  But I GAINED so much more!!!
I have shared many times that when I first decided to change my body and what I put into it, I was motivated by outward factors mostly. I wanted to feel more comfortable in my clothes. Summer was coming which meant bathing suits…and I hated how I looked.
But as a believer, I knew that it had to be more than that. Physical motivation would only take me so far. My drive and desire to change had to come from God. So, when I started practicing portion control and clean eating, I went ahead and bought a bible study to go along with it.

I am not going to lie.  There were days that were hard!  Days that I wanted to quit.  Days that I didn’t want to measure my food out with those super cute little containers any more.  I just wanted to do what I wanted to do!  I wanted the Cheetos instead of the carrots… But I pushed through.  I messed up a lot and gave in when I shouldn’t, but my fellow challengers kept me going.

Nehemiah 4:14

And God opened my eyes very quickly, in spite of me. My poor choices had a lot to do with the fact that I was putting so many things in my life first over my relationship with God. I let food make me happy. I watched tv shows instead of digging into His word. I scrolled through Facebook or shopped online instead of starting and ending my day with Him.

faith and fitness journeyAnd my health was only one of the things that was suffering. My spirit was weak; my hormones were out of control, my relationships were suffering. Especially with my husband, Matt.
So, I began to read, to dig deep, to pray for change – inside and out. That’s why my blog is called Healthy Mommy – Body and Soul. Sure I advocate a healthy lifestyle, but I know that health and wellness goes much deeper.  It takes Courage, Strength and Determination to make change happen.  And those things don’t come from Rachel.  They can only come from God!

And God has laid this on my heart for a few months now.  To lead a group focusing not only on workouts and eating clean, but also while sharing the same devotions that I walked through as I began my journey.
So, starting on October 19th, I am looking for 5 women who want to walk through this with me. I will be sharing daily devotions, customized meal plans, and support through those calorie-filled holidays!
We will all be:
  • working out for 30 minutes/day
  • meal planning and prepping ( I will share my own)
  • Reading through God’s word together
  • Holding one another accountable
  • Sharing recipes and tips
  • Joining together to make the end of 2015 even better than the beginning!
The only thing that held me back before I started was fear.  Fear of failure.  Fear of letting myself, my family and God down.  But I quickly realized that those were all fears that were holding me back. And they were incredibly unrealistic!!!

So!!! We begin on October 19th, and I am giving away a copy of Lysa Terkeurst’s Made to Crave book to two new challengers!!!
So, if you want to join us, leave your info below.  I would love to help you get started and reach your goals!
