Make a New Life Resolution!

I’ll be honest. When I bought the 21 Day Fix in May of 2014, I was looking for a QUICK fix. I wanted to drop the weight, feel better about myself, and then go back to how I was treating my body before.

But by divine intervention, God led me to pick up Made To Crave by Lysa Terkeurst. I think my sister mentioned it. And it rocked my outlook on my body and how I was drawn to food over God. 


I had honestly never equated how I treated my body with how I valued it as a creation of God. But that changed as I read this book. And I knew I HAD to do more than workout and eat clean and drink Shakeology. I had to PRAY! INVITE God into this journey. It was only THEN that my health would change – Body and Soul.


And God delivered. I still don’t get it perfect, but I see my body as a temple, a vessel, a GIFT that can be used to serve my Savior!!!


It’s all connected.



And as the New Year approaches, and so many people purchase gym memberships, workout clothes, new tennis shoes, and clear their pantries of the junk in an effort to resolve to be healthy yet again!   I am reminded that there are no quick fixes.  No magic pills or wraps.  No easy solutions to improving our health.


It takes WORK!  Like, real, dirty, HARD work!  



That may not be what you expected to hear, but it’s the truth, and I will always shoot straight with you.



I CRIED through the first week of workouts when I began.  I was angry because I couldn’t eat whatever I wanted, and my body was craving the JUNK I normally fed it with.



But Lysa’s words kept circling in my brain 


We were made for more than this. More than this failure, more than this cycle, more than being ruled by taste buds.  We were made for VICTORY.pg. 49

And so Deuteronomy 2:3 became my verse.  The one that stuck in my head when I wanted to grab the bag of Oreos or the Chicken biscuit and Diet Coke I was accustomed to every morning on the way to work. 

You have circled this mountain long enough. Now turn North.” Deuteronomy 2:3

So as 2017 rolls around and you make a commitment to something, I want to ask you to NOT make a New Year’s Resolution.  But commit to changing your LIFE!  Changing your goals.  Changing your habits.

Commit to inviting God into your health. Into your decisions.  


And I want to invite you to join me and some other women as we seek to make 2017 our healthiest year ever!  My New Year, New Like challenge begins January 2nd with prep week.   

We will be focusing on God’s word, studying it and applying it our decisions and our health.  

* Daily workouts and check ins
* Meal planning and portion control
* Daily Devotions and prayer
* Accountability at it’s finest!
* Replace one meal a day with Shakeology
