Were You Really Ever Committed?

Were You Really Ever Committed?

This is kind of a tough love post.  But I am a big believer in tough love.  I like to receive it, even when it stings a little…ok sometimes a lot.

And this post is written out of pure love.

I hear women tell me every week, “They HAVE to do something.”

Their weight is out of control; they have diabetes, high cholesterol, PCOS, PMDD, etc.
If there’s an acronym for it, we suffer from it, right ladies???

And I totally understand. I had high cholesterol for years. I struggled with PMDD since my teens.

But one day, I truly had enough!  No more! I was ready for a change.  And I started a diet.  And I stopped….

And I started again…And I stopped.

You see, I wasn’t truly committed.  I let little things derail me.  A birthday, a baby shower, a teasing word from someone else about the salad I was eating.  Depression or hurt feelings.  Anything was a reason for me to stop making better choices and to just say, “I can’t do it.”

Until one day, God said, “ENOUGH”!  I knew it was truly time.  I knew that if I didn’t do something, I would continue to put food, emotions, my wants and desires above what I was supposed to be doing in my walk with Christ.

And sweet friends, how we treat our bodies is very much part of our walk with Christ.

And so I’m here to tell you, I GET IT!  It’s hard to make healthy choices and do it consistently.  But there has to come a point where you make less excuses and take more action!

  • Pray about it. Give it to God.
  • Clear out the cupboards
  • Make a meal plan.
  • Find an accountability partner…one that will call you out!
  • Start a workout program.
  • Set some goals.

And JUST DO IT!!!!

If you are starting and stopping, and using any excuse or letdown or misstep keep you from doing what you know is RIGHT for your body and your soul, STOP!!!!!!

Get off the stupid merry go round and take responsibility for your body!  It’s YOURS.  No one else is gonna take care of it for you!

Ask yourself, “have I truly committed to this?”

Or have you just committed to trying it for a little while to see if you can stick with it?
Those are NOT the same things.  It’s got to be your Plan A!!! There is no Plan B.  You WILL change your habits and you WILL have days where you fail!  Expect it.  Embrace it. And MOVE PAST IT!

You CAN do it!  With God’s help. I’m not here to tell you that you can do it by your own will-power.  I know I could not!  But God loves you.  He created you.  He wants what’s best for you!
Stop doubting that and having your own little pity party every time you slip up, and ask yourself “Was I really ever committed to this?”
If not, it’s time!!!
