Week 1 of Insanity Max 30

Week 1 of Insanity Max 30

I had no idea what to expect with this program.  I can honestly say I have NEVER done a workout program like this.  Before I started doing at home workouts, I stuck to my running and the elliptical.  Then I completed the 21 Day Fix and Chalean Extreme – both of which are incredibly effective programs but focus on weight lifting as well as cardio.  Insanity Max 30 is intense cardio and extreme strength training.  But I love a good challenge, and if there is one thing I have learned as a coach, it’s that I should always be pushing myself and growing.  If don’t, I will remain complacent or move backwards! Don’t want that!

But don’t let that scare you.  Although, I have to admit I was scared at first.  All of the moves I have been able to execute pretty well.  Sometimes I have to modify or do them at my own pace, but I have surprised myself.  I am the QUEEN of uncoordinated, but that doesn’t really matter.  Matt is the only one who sees me doing them, and he could care less!!! (Plus, he looks sillier than I do while doing them…Shh! That’s our secret.)

The concept behind Insanity Max 30 is to PUSH yourself.  Keep up, do the moves until your body tells you that you cannot go any farther…and then push yourself for 3 more reps and THEN you can take a break.  That is what “Maxing Out” means.  It builds cardio endurance and stamina and also burns some killer calories!  One of my goals for 2015 is to run the Coke Race 10K in May in less than 55 minutes. That would improve my time from last year by a full five minutes.  I’m not sure if that is realistic, but I have no doubt that this program will help me improve my time.

Yall, I promise that after just ONE week of doing this program that my abs are absolutely TIGHTER!!! ONE WEEK! That’s insane.  And we’ve only done about two rounds of sit ups.  The whole program forces you to use your core, and it definitely works.

The meal plan is very similar to the 21 Day Fix, just doesn’t come with the containers.  So, this has been extremely easy for me to plan for.  I still eat according to the 21 Day Fix anyways, so nothing has really changed.  I have been hungrier than usual, but I think it’s because of all of the calories I’m burning in those 30 minute workouts each morning.

Prep for fajitas

The Insanity Max 30 challenge pack is on sale through the end of this month.  If you decide you want to Max Out with me, this is definitely the time to try it!

Needless to say, I am very pleased with my first week.  I can’t wait to see if my max out times improve next week.  Stay tuned…
