Momma’s Going to the Beach!!!

Momma’s Going to the Beach!!!

This Fall weather and absolutely thrilled my soul this past week.  We had so much fun this weekend hanging out with friends, playing outside, building a fire in the fire pit and roasting s’mores.  Wonderful!  It is absolutely without a doubt my favorite season of the year. I love all of the seasons, but Fall is the most exciting to me.  The cooler temps mean sweaters, boots, a fire in the fire place and of course the approaching holidays.  Woohoo!

Fall is here!!! Covered head to toe in 48 degree weather!

But as much as I love all of those things, I am super excited to be heading to the beach this weekend to meet up with some fellow Diamond coaches for an awesome weekend of training and retreat!!! This training is something I EARNED and I am so proud to be a part of this.  It will be a weekend filled with fun!!! We are honestly going to spend the majority of our time just relaxing, interacting, and sharing mixed in with some great training from the top coaches in Beachbody.  Eeek!!!

I have shared it so many times, but one of the biggest blessings I have received as a coach include the relationships I have formed.  And that is something I am most excited about for this weekend.  You have to understand that a coach is not someone who is perfect, strong and confident from day one.  But someone who is courageous, willing to get outside of their comfort zone.  Someone who is willing to overcome fears and learn to work on weaknesses to become strong in areas they are not. It excites me to meet these women.  Women who are willing to get a little uncomfortable to help someone else.  And I know that these relationships will only make me a better coach. I have made some of the most amazing friends since becoming a coach!  I know I will make more this weekend.

Another reason I am so pumped about this weekend, is for my own personally sponsored coaches.  Sure this weekend will be full of fun and relaxation, but I also know that I will walk away better equipped to help my coaches succeed.  I’ll be honest that not all areas of leadership come easy to me.  I am a fixer, a doer, and leading sometimes means that I don’t always rush in to “fix” a situation.  It means guiding my coaches, providing examples and then encouraging them to grow and learn for themselves.

I remember being a new coach those first few months.  I went through every emotion you could image!  Fear, Uncertainty, Excitement, Hope, Joy, Fear… I wanted to help people SO badly the way my coach had helped me, but there were so many days that I was just certain that I wasn’t cut out for it.  Surely someone else would be better at this than me, I told myself most days.

But I pushed through.  I remained consistent even on those days I didn’t want to.  The days I just wanted to quit and never get on social media again.  I stuck with it.  I put my blinders on and worked hard not to compare my journey to someone else’s and just went for it!

I know that for me personally, this journey of being a fitness coach has changed me in ways I would never have expected.   I seriously lacked self-confidence in myself.  I lacked the faith that God had called me to something that was bigger than me.  Being a coach was not actually something I ran after at first.  I went into it reluctantly.  Not because anyone forced me, but because I seriously felt like God was calling me to it.

I didn’t want to sell anything.  I was skeptical about online marketing.  I had tried other things in the past and hated them.  But this just felt different.  Even though it scared me to death, it felt right.

I loved working out and improving my own health.  My family was changing right alongside of me.  I began to dive into personal development and scripture and seek God’s guidance in how to approach this business, and I took it one day at a time.

I had amazing support and guidance from my coach, and slowly, day by day I began to learn.  I grew more confident.  And really began to HELP people!!!! Which is why I started in the first place!

There are still so many moments that I am uncertain.  Do I have what it takes to lead?  Is all my hard work worth it?  And when I have those moments, I stop, I pray for guidance and God ALWAYS sends it.

I receive confirmation DAILY that He has used me to help someone.  It may not always be a challenger.  It may be someone who is encouraged by my morning workout post.
Or my husband who says that I motivated him to get out of bed for the day and workout.
Or my children when they ask me for an apple for snack instead of a cookie.

But God is in this.
I am learning to relinquish control to Him.
Work hard and honor Him with what I am doing and wait for His timing to make certain things happen.

Ultimately, my life is a commitment to my faith and to spreading the gospel of Christ.  If by sharing my fitness journey, I am able to encourage, uplift and point others to Christ along the way, then I have accomplished something wonderful!

So!  Momma’s going to the beach in a few days.
Not just to sit by the beach and relax.
But to grow, to learn, to make new friends.
To come back a better coach, leader and example for those around me.

 It’s gonna be awesome!

xoxo,
Rachel Mitchell
