IF you believe…Then What???

IF you believe…Then What???

This Easter, God has really driven home Christ’s humility for me.  He came in such a humble manner, born in a feeding trough among the dirty animals, wrapped in whatever Mary and Joseph could salvage from their belongings…He who is Greatest was born among the lowliest…by choice!  His humility was foretold to us in Zechariah, and we are told to rejoice!!!

Rejoice because God would come to us in flesh.  He would live, walk and die for YOU and for ME! He entered Jerusalem that first Palm Sunday to fanfare, but he knew what awaited him.

He went anyway.

He was broke and beaten and torn apart, because he knew that his blood was required for my atonement.  While on the cross, he became MY sin, and when he died, the curtain of the temple was torn in two.  Tearing down any barrier that existed between us and God!

But Jesus’s death was not the end.  John 20:6 speaks about Simon Peter entering the tomb Jesus had risen from,

“He saw the cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’s head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.”

He was swaddled in cloth at His birth – a symbol of the lowly way Christ entered this world.  And his resurrection was marked by the burial cloth He left behind.  This symbol of humility was the same thing He used to show us his power and his might!!! How cool is our God?

And because He is alive, we have HOPE!
  • Hope that we can be forgiven of the sin that separates us from God by acknowledging it and ask for forgiveness.  (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)
  • Hope that by repenting and turning from it, we can live a life filled with joy and peace. (Romans 8: 38-39)
  • Hope that by following Christ and trusting Him for our salvation, we can one day enter into the awesome presence of God who loves us so much that He sent his son! And spend eternity rejoicing and worshiping Him! (Romans 10:9)

I have been following the If Equip bible studies, and at the end of most daily scripture readings, there is a short video and some questions.  The main question being,

If we believe that Jesus lived and died for us, that He was resurrected and lives today, then what will we do with that?  Have you accepted Christ’s sacrifice for your own?  Do you have the assurance that when your life ends that you will be in heaven with Him?  If not, do so now.  Simply confess your sinfulness to God, ask for forgiveness, and follow Christ.

If you do know Him, what are you doing to live for Him and lead others to Him?  Our church, Tate Baptist in Corinth, MS is hosting an IF conference for the women of our community.

What if you believed God for far greater? What if you believed you have a story to tell? What if you trusted your life in His plans? What if you gave up your crown of thorns for a place at the cross? Found your life in the hands of a loving Father who called you daughter? Daughter of a KING? What if you loved yourself as much as He loves you? What if you handed it all over to Him? What would our stories, our words, our lives speak to the world…our community…our families…our best friends?
I invite you to join us!

Happy Easter!!!
Rachel
