How to Be RESOLUTE In Your Faith

If there is one question I get more than anything, it’s , “Rachel, how do I grow in my faith?”

And I LOVE it! I feel honored to share my faith story and how God continues to pull me out of myself and into a closer walk with Him!

HEAR THIS!

Nothing you see me do or share or say comes from Rachel. Any good in me comes directly from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am a girl who DOES NOT have it all together and never has.

Jesus simply WRECKED me when I was 24 years old, and I’ve never wanted to go back!

But I have learned one thing the hard way. Walking with Christ doesn’t happen magically the day we get saved.

Yes, we receive the Holy Spirit.
Yes, we are changed.
Yes, we are secure in eternity with Him, but the growth takes discipline and work!

1 Peter 2:2-3 says, “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good.”

I’m sharing these tips, because they have helped me GROW more in the past few years than ever!

3 Tips to Be RESOLUTE In Your Walk With Christ

1. MAKE the Time.
   
   I know. Don’t check out on me. Time is a precious commodity for all of us, but it’s there. I assure you. Take a few days to track how you SPEND your time, down to the minute. See how much is wasted on social media, listening to the news over and over, watching mindless tv, etc. You’ll find that there is PLENTY of time to get quiet with the Lord.
   
   My favorite time with Him is in the quiet of the morning hours. Except for our new pup, Max, it’s the quietest and most peaceful time of my day! Even if it’s just 5 minutes in the car, or 10 minutes in carline or 15 minutes in the closet when your husband gets home from work… the time you give to the Lord won’t be wasted!
   
   
2. Find a Bible Reading Plan
   
   It honestly wasn’t until I got directly into the Word for myself that I started to see deeper spiritual growth. Don’t get me wrong. There are lots of great devotions out there, but why would we spend all our time reading someone else’s words when we can go directly to the Source! Use devotions as supplements to your daily Bible reading but not as time in the Word.
   
   If you’re a follower of Christ, the Holy Spirit is there guiding you and revealing Himself to you!

3. Practice the Spiritual Discipline of Fasting
   
   I spoke about this a lot in Episode 17 of my podcast. This isn’t a discipline I implemented until this past year, and it has transformed my walk with Christ! The bible is full of examples of prayer and fasting.
   
   Read John Piper’s book, A Hunger for God (Redesign): Desiring God through Fasting and Prayer to go deeper on this topic!
   
   Romans 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

At the end of the day, God cares most about a heart that is hungry to know Him above all else. It doesn’t need to look perfect. Come to Him with all your imperfects and ask Him to reveal more of himself to you!
