Start With Loving Yourself!

Start With Loving Yourself!

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command,
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Galatians 5:14
I have always focused on the first part of the second
commandment.  To Love my neighbor.  Which is something I definitely think is very
important.

But recently I have been contemplating the second part.  Love my neighbor AS MYSELF. That implies that
I am to love myself a great deal to begin with, right?

I’m not talking about being prideful or telling yourself
that you are more important than anyone or anything.  But I mean really loving yourself and seeing
your true value. Seeing yourself as God sees you. Investing in yourself.

You see, God thinks you are pretty wonderful. No matter what
size pants you wear, no matter what the scale says, no matter what the mirror
says.  God loves you now and forever.

Does that mean we should eat ourselves into an oblivion or
let our emotions rule how we treat our bodies? NO.  But often times, our discomfort with
ourselves leads us down this path. We are unhappy with our bodies or how our
clothes fit, so we tell ourselves, “What is one more cookie, one more drink, or
one more plate of spaghetti?”

I’m not judging…I speak from experience.  I used to eat to fill a hole that was left
by not realizing my full potential.  Not
realizing that this body God has given me is a GIFT.  Something to be treasured and used for His
glory.  To be taken care of and nourished
with the abundance of wonderful foods He has placed on this earth for us.

When I began to realize this and sought change, I had to do
it by leaning on God.  I myself, am
incapable of changing anything without His help. Without Him, I am unable to
get uncomfortable and make the changes necessary to improve my body and my
soul.

I am so thankful I began this journey eight months ago, and
today I invite you to join me.  What do
you have to lose?

In my February challenge group, we will focus on:
