Core de Force, Week 2 and my Plan for Thanksgiving Week

Core de Force, Week 2 and my Plan for Thanksgiving Week

It’s Thanksgiving!  I love it!  Everything from the weather, the things I am thankful for, the food, family…all of it!

And just like any other week of the year, I am going into this week with a PLAN!!!

I am LOVING my Core de Force workouts and I’m tackling Week 2 HARD!

I am NOT starving myself this week so that I can eat anything I want on Thanksgiving Day.  But I am going into this week with a detailed plan for meals and for how I will approach our two holiday dinners.

My challengers and I are going to be doing what I call “1/2 cup Thanksgiving dinner” .  Just a 1/2 a cup of any food and no seconds.  That enables me to eat the foods I want without overdoing it and totally regretting it all later!

Food is awesome!  And even the yummy Thanksgiving foods like dressing, pumpkin and pecan pie, mashed potatoes, but we work too hard to undo it all in a day.

And truly, the battle is more mental than physical.  I see SO many people start strong, and when they hit a bump in the road or fall of the health wagon, they give up entirely.  And it doesn’t have to be that way!  But having a plan and some accountability is SO important.

So, some of my tips for you this Thanksgiving to stay on track with your health and not gain 10 lbs in a matter of days are:

    1. Stay away from heavy and thick sauces and creams.
    2. Try to limit red meat to small amounts and choose white meats such as chicken and turkey over the beef.
    3. Opt for small amounts of low-fat milk, cheeses, and yogurts.
    4. Get plenty of your vegetables and medium amounts of fruits.
    5. Limit desserts such as pies, cookies, pastries, and ice cream to a minimum.
    6. If you choose any carbs, choose the whole-grain and whole-wheat versions of breads and pastas, and for potatoes stick to sweet potatoes and red potatoes. For rice, stick to brown rice.
    7. Keep the alcohol to a minimum and drink water whenever possible.
    8. If anything is glazed, remember sugar is present, so practice moderation.
    9. Drink your Shakeology before you go!  This will help curb your sweet cravings and fill your tummy with GOOD nutrition!
    10. Make your workout a priority EVERY day this week!
I hope that helps give you some ideas and motivates you to both 1) ENJOY your Thanksgiving holiday and 2) makes some good decisions for your health!

    Happy Thanksgiving!
