Week 4 of Hammer and Chisel and My “Wholly Fit” Tips!

Week 4 of Hammer and Chisel and My “Wholly Fit” Tips!

I called do-overs last week on Week 3, because I was out of town for most of it.  So I repeated Week 3, and I’m so glad that I did!  I feel stronger, and my nutrition has been 100% better than the week before.

So moving into Week 4, my mindset is to build and to grow on the progress I have been able to make this past week.

I get frustrated when I don’t lose weight quickly. For most of my life, I could drop weight quickly by just cutting out a late night snack. That’s not so anymore. I’m creeping up on 40, and things change!

So, I am trying to be patient with myself and take it one day at a time. I seriously have about 10 lbs I would like to lose at this point, but I’m just focusing on my CHOICES instead of the scale. I’ve actually put it away for a month and am just following my plan.

I’ve got such a wonderful group of challengers who are supporting me and encouraging me just like I do them. I can get so focused on all the bad choices that got me to a place of discomfort instead of really focusing on just moving forward. Changing my habits back to what I know they should be and trudging forward!

For YEARS I was a yo-yo dieter. Gaining and losing. Gaining and losing. And I was so unhealthy!  Now!  I know that even when I gain a little I am still healthier than I ever was.

I started this round of Hammer and Chisel fully intending to do the Whole 30 meal plan with it. And I am for the most part, except for my time out of town last week. It is not “officially” Whole 30, because that plan does not approve drinking your meals. And I’m not giving up my Shakeology, so some friends and I who are doing this together are calling our plan “Wholly Fit”.  Why not put your own twist on something right?

Why do Love my Shakeology so? It has been a key factor in my healthy changes.
I could go on and on, but it simply is my JAM!  Could I be healthy without it? Sure!  But it’s an easy option and fits into my life so well.

*Disclaimer – in NO WAY am I calling my meal plan below Whole 30 compliant.  It is my own adaptation.

I absolutely believe that this is about finding what works for ME!!! For my life right where I’m at.

Hammer and Chisel Week 4 Meal Plan

And I know that following the 21 Day Fix worked for me in the beginning, so I’m following my portions as well as focusing on eating JUST whole foods and a few more healthy fats.

Take Care of YOURSELF

And you know? Getting healthy isn’t about becoming a muscular athlete.  It’s simply about focusing on a goal. It can be anything! Walk more, eat less sugar, cut out diet sodas.  And removing any unnecessary obstacles that get in our way.  For me, Shakeology keeps me from raiding the pantry at 9:00 at night.

But guys, I can’t stress HOW Important it is to make those small changes.  To begin RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE!  Here are a few suggestions that are small changes that can help you get started.

  1. Commit to getting 7-10 hours of sleep a night.  You HAVE to take care of your body if you wish to be productive and useful to God and those He has blessed you with. Don’t believe the Super Momma myth that you are capable of running on coffee and pop tarts.  You NEED sleep!
  2. Put a basic plan in place for healthy eating.  Heck! I gave you one above.  It doesn’t have to be complex. I eat the same things for snacks and breakfast almost every single day.  Don’t tell me you can’t eat the same thing everyday. You’re a big girl. You can until you find some other things that work well for you!
  3. Get moving!  Even if it’s just a few times a week.  Moving and exercise is really less about weight loss and more about getting your mind and spirit in the place it needs to be to make healthy choices.  Exercise can be just as effective as an antidepressant because it releases natural feel good chemicals into the brain.  What type of exercise do you like the most…or maybe hate the least? Do that!
