How to Deal With Anxiety God’s Way

How to Deal With Anxiety God’s Way

I am excited to welcome my first quest blogger today! Her bio is below, but Lacy and I connected through Social Media, and one day she posted a live video about struggling with anxiety and how her faith helps her deal with that!  Here is her story and her best tips for dealing with anxiety.

———————————————————————————————————

Panic, fear, anxiety, worry. These are all issues and feelings many of us face and battle daily, myself included. How does this happen? How do we become so crippled in fear and anxiety that we eventually feel trapped in a never-ending cycle of despair?

My name is Lacy and I suffered from anxiety approximately 5-6 years of my life with the last 2 years being the worst of the worst. I, along with most of you, tried so hard to get a quick fix or at least a plan to overcome this crippling anxiety I was encountering. I read article after article, tried calming oils, meditation and so many other things proven to help, with failure as the outcome.

As my attacks of anxiety grew worse daily my physical body was becoming weak. The attacks would range from subtle worry to waking up throughout the night crying and unable to breathe. Sometimes there were many reasons for the panic and anxiety and other times there was not.  This sadly became a way of life for me, always tired, fearful, anxious, and worried. Did I mention tired? I never slept.

January of 2017 marked a new beginning not only in my life, but my husband’s life as well. We found ourselves in a radical movement of God. Now when I say “radical,” I mean just that. Our whole lifestyle changed in an instance. Our lives, marriage and overall worth became completely devoted and given away to The Lord. Our lives became an open vessel for The Lord Jesus Christ. (Another story for another time, haha.)

The desires of our hearts began to change and with that our hearts began to continuously beat for God. After this awesome encounter, I noticed by anxiety slowly started to cease. No, no, it didn’t completely go away. However, as my faith and relationship with Jesus Christ grew, my anxiety lessened. You may ask, “Well, why didn’t God completely take away your anxiety and why doesn’t he take away mine?” Like many individuals, I still had to keep some type of control over my own life. I still wanted things my way and not His way. We as humans have a hard time taking our own hands out of our plans, and letting God use his hands to make our plans for us. We fail to see that God’s plans aren’t always the same as ours and just maybe that job we wanted so badly wasn’t in God’s ultimate plan for our life after all. October 24, 2017, is the day God delivered me from constant anxiety. This day was specifically made by The Lord for a complete deliverance to happen of the attack and bondage Satan had me in. It was finished and Satan knew that because it was next to impossible for us to make it to church on time that night. Nonetheless, we made it and with time to spare!

My husband and I are the Young Adult Ministry leaders at our home church, Harbor of Hope. We had arranged an outing event to attend a local church’s revival meeting in which Jonathan Shuttlesworth was speaking. I felt very heavily in my spirit that night that we were going to have a major breakthrough. (I say we because as you all know it isn’t just ourselves that suffer from this attack, but our families as well).

That night God completely manifested his presence and healing over me. As Mr. Shuttlesworth pulled me from the line and gave me a word from The Lord, “ You will never suffer from this again,” God’s spirit and power healed me completely. I have never in 32 years felt as much peace as I did in that moment. The following four nights instead of waking up at 3 a.m. in a state of panic, I instead woke up full of joy and saying the name of Jesus over and over. I was healed, set free and delivered.

I know you are struggling. I know this is hard and seems bigger than anything you’ve ever faced. However, God is bigger. I know it hurts, but God heals. I know you are tired, but God gives strength and courage to the tired. You can do this. You can break through the lies and attacks Satan is bringing against you.  God has not fashioned us to live in fear. When in fear our faith cannot be activated because faith and fear cannot coexist. We are called to be fearless!

God is calling you into complete revelation of his power and truth. Romans 8:15 says, “ For you have not received a spirit of slavery that leads you into fear again. Instead, you have received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba Father!”. He has not called us to live in fear, but freedom. With his spirit in us we can move any mountain set before us. We are sitting right there with Jesus in heavenly places at the right hand of our Father. (Ephesians 2:6).  We have the same authority as Jesus does to trample all over the attacks of Satan! We just need to activate and walk in that faith.

We must as the bible says,

“Set our mind on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, excellent or praiseworthy.” Philippians 4:8.

Do not be held captive in the realm of anxiety and fear, but focus on the pure things of Christ. We are called to have supernatural peace and joy in Jesus. Remember, God CANNOT lose. He is high and lifted up and all things are placed under his feet. With this strong revelation and truth, we become unshakeable and a force to be reckoned with. You can do this. You can beat this. You are chosen and a child of the King! Walk in it. Be bold. Be relentless.

God Bless,

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I’ve dealt with same symptoms of anxiety and fear for about 2 years. After a tramatic event in my life it hit me like a ton of bricks. God helps me everyday, as I’m learning how to surrender everything to Him. I saw myself in your story and I know I’m on the road to complete deliverance with God. Thank you for being real.
